Install your Nivoryx system yourself

For DASS customers who selected DIY at checkout (no professional install fee). Last updated: 9 July 2026.

Read this before starting. Serious.

This device controls a mains-powered motor. Incorrect wiring or installation on an incompatible premises can damage your motor, your appliances, or injure someone. If you are not comfortable working with mains electricity, stop here and switch to professional install — WhatsApp us at +91 92174 05503 and we will schedule a technician.

At DASS checkout you attested that your premises meets the compatibility checklist in section 1. If any item does not pass, do not install — request professional install instead.

1. Premises compatibility checklist

Every item must be a yes before you power up the controller. This mirrors what a Nivoryx technician verifies in a professional install and is what you attested to at checkout.

Electrical

  • Mains voltage at the motor circuit is 220–240V AC
  • Earthing is present and continuous; earth-loop resistance below 5Ω
  • RCCB is installed on the motor circuit (30 mA type; press the test button — should trip)
  • Neutral is bonded properly (no floating-neutral indication)
  • No visible stabiliser bypass, spliced insulation, or burnt cabling
  • Motor MCB rating meets or exceeds motor full-load amperage

Motor

  • Motor make/model is on the Nivoryx compatibility list (check the app or WhatsApp us your motor nameplate)
  • Motor HP matches or is below what your DASS tier supports
  • Motor has its own isolator/switch within reach
  • Dry-run protection is either built into the motor or will be wired through the Nivoryx controller

Plumbing

  • Tank fill pipe is BIS-compliant (CPVC or galvanised iron; no leaky joints)
  • Tank overflow outlet exists and is clear
  • Sensor probe mounting point is accessible; tank material accepts the probe type

Network

  • Wi-Fi signal at the install location is at least −75 dBm (check on your phone at that spot)
  • You have the Wi-Fi password for the pairing step

Any FAIL here: stop, WhatsApp us, and switch to professional install. We will not charge you a penalty for switching.

2. What you will need

  • The Nivoryx kit you received (controller, sensor probes, mounting hardware, cables)
  • Screwdriver set
  • Insulated pliers
  • Multimeter (200V–500V AC + continuity)
  • Drill and appropriate bits if wall mounting
  • Your phone with the Nivoryx app installed and signed in to your account

3. Step-by-step install

Step 1 — Power off the motor circuit

Trip the MCB feeding the motor circuit. Tag it or tell everyone in the home not to switch it back on until you say so. Verify with your multimeter that the motor terminals are dead.

Step 2 — Mount the controller

Choose a spot within reach of both the motor isolator and the Wi-Fi signal, away from direct water spray. Mount using the supplied hardware. Leave the enclosure lid open until wiring is complete.

Step 3 — Wire the controller

Wire the controller in series with the motor isolator, per the wiring diagram in your kit. All connections must use screw-terminal or insulated push-fit connectors — no twisted-wire joints, no tape-only splices. Double-check every connection for tightness.

Step 4 — Mount the sensor probes

Mount the level probes at the position indicated in the kit manual. Seals must be tight; a loose-fit probe leaks and skews readings.

Step 5 — Power up and verify boot

Close the enclosure. Turn the MCB back on. The controller should boot within a few seconds — the LED status is shown in the manual. If it does not boot, MCB off immediately and check wiring.

Step 6 — Pair via the Nivoryx app

Open the app, sign in, and start the BLE pairing flow. On first pairing you will accept the DASS Subscription Agreement (or the Friends-and-Family Beta Agreement if you are in the beta cohort). Enter your Wi-Fi credentials when prompted. Confirm the device shows online in the app.

Step 7 — Test cycle

Run a test fill or scheduled-supply cycle depending on your app. Confirm the motor starts and stops as expected. Confirm telemetry is streaming in the app.

4. Send us photos

As soon as your install is complete, WhatsApp us six photos so we have a record for your account:

  1. The mounted controller (closed enclosure)
  2. The wiring (enclosure open, before you close it)
  3. The RCCB and the motor MCB in your electrical panel
  4. The motor nameplate
  5. The mounted sensor probes on the tank
  6. The app showing the device paired and online

WhatsApp: +91 92174 05503. We keep the photos with your subscription record as a completion log.

5. Post-install checks

  • App shows the device online and streaming telemetry
  • Motor starts and stops on demand + on schedule
  • Dry-run protection triggers when you unplug the sensor (test with the motor OFF)
  • Overflow protection triggers when you simulate a full tank (sensor pinned high)

If any of these fail, WhatsApp us. Common early-life issues are probe alignment and Wi-Fi signal strength — we can walk you through it in a few minutes.

6. What DIY installation does NOT cover

  • Damage to your motor caused by pre-existing electrical faults on your premises
  • Damage to your appliances or property from wiring you performed (per §5 of the DASS Subscription Agreement — professional install shifts more of this to Nivoryx)
  • Water damage from plumbing joints that were not to BIS spec

Device failure due to a manufacturing defect is still covered — see the DASS Subscription Agreement.

7. Upgrade to professional install

If, after starting, you decide you would rather have a Nivoryx technician finish the install: WhatsApp us. We schedule and charge only the installation fee for your device count; your subscription and deposit stay unchanged.
